Cape Town is a culturally rich city with many attractions and activities to suit everyone's tastes and desires. The following exciting activities are just some of the numerous adventures you can participate in whilst staying at any of The Last Word's Intimate Hotels.

Wine tasting in the Cape is a splendid way of exploring the region and sampling some of the excellent wines at the numerous award-winning Wine Estates. A number of tour operators offer wine tasting tours, allowing you to relax and enjoy being driven between wine estates. Alternatively, there are many self-drive maps available allowing you to explore the region on your own steam. Most wine farms offer tastings, where you can purchase their particular wines. As a guest at The Last Word, we will gladly assist in recommending our favourite wineries and wine routes. Alternatively, we can book you on one of the numerous wine tours on offer.

The Constantia Wine Route is the oldest wine route in the country, and although there are only a few wineries, it offers some superb wines. There are other numerous well established wine routes starting just 20 minutes outside of Cape Town meandering through the quaint villages of Franschhoek, Stellenbosch and Paarl and a bit further afield to the North, the area of Swartland also produces excellent wines.

Many of the wine farms also offer cellar tours which takes you through the process of making wine, from planting the vineyards to bottling. Most estates also have excellent restaurants or offer pre-packed picnics for you to enjoy in the immaculate gardens amongst some of the most spectacular scenery in the country.

South Africa is a golfer's dream. The Western Cape boasts a number of world-class golf courses. With year-round sunshine and very affordable visitor's fees, Cape Town is the ideal golfing destination. The Last Word staff will happily make golfing arrangements for you, and recommend courses to suit your tastes.

From the Royal Cape Golf Club, established in 1885 and the oldest in the country, to the new designer courses such as Steenberg Golf Club, Cape Town has a wide selection. Some of the many championship golf courses in the Constantia area include Clovelly, Steenberg and Westlake.

The favourable international exchange rate makes South Africa a shopper's paradise for overseas visitors. Cape Town boasts many shopping centres which range from big brand stores to smaller boutique stores, all within close proximity to Constantia. A variety of restaurants, coffee shops and cinemas are also available.

Just some of Cape Town's many shopping centres include: the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront - with majestic Table Mountain as a backdrop. It is a working harbour, with many interesting shops and entertainment facilities. The 'Waterfront' has become Cape Town's most popular attraction.

Cape Town's newest and most grand shopping complex is Canal Walk, housing more than 400 shops and restaurants, fast-food outlets and cinemas.

Other exclusive malls close to Constantia include Cavendish Square and Constantia Village.

A Township Tour tour is a fascinating way of learning about the cultures and traditions of South Africa. Despite difficult circumstances and poor living conditions, you will experience the vibrancy and spirit of the South African people. We can make recommendations on which tour to go on for guests staying at any of our properties.

Visit the fascinating area of Bo-Kaap and the Malay Quarter. A traditional residential area of Cape Town's Muslim community, the suburb consists of cobbled streets, brightly coloured houses from the nineteenth century, Muslim shrines and mosques.

A tour around the District Six Museum depicts the memories of the time when people were forcibly removed from their homes under the Group Areas Act. Explore the Cape Flats and visit areas such as Langa, Nyanga, Gugulethu, Khayelitsha and Crossroads. A stop at a local shebeen for a taste of sorghum beer is a highlight. Other stops include the meat market, the mens' hostels, a herbalist and the Philani women's centre. Most tours are interactive and you will have the opportunity to speak to the local residents and possibly even be invited into their homes.

The adventure of a life time. Southern Africa is rated among the best shark diving locations in the world. In Cape Town there are many tour operators offering numerous different expeditions and diving trips. We recommend and can book the most suitable trip for guests staying at any of The Last Word Properties. The most popular trips are to Seal Island, Shark Alley and Dyer Island.

Sharks are possibly the most feared animals on earth and also the most misunderstood. See them in their natural habitat and get to know these fearsome creatures of the deep. The waters off the coast of Cape Town are teeming with Great Whites, Mako and Blue Sharks.
